Thomas Galyon on doing what it takes to bring out the details in your work

When it comes to restoration, ever wondered how cameras capture details that seem impossible? Super resolution is the fascinating process of deriving high-level detail from multiple, temporally different images. When you zoom in on a diagonal line on a pixel grid, you eventually lack the pixels to represent it perfectly, often resulting in "blended" or gray pixels along the edges. By taking the differences in those sub-pixels across various frames, we can infer sharper lines and hidden details.
At DigitalFilm Tree, that story-first mindset shapes the technical decisions. Whether a project needs subtle beauty work, invisible VFX, careful conform, or a final grade that preserves the director’s intention, the question remains the same: what helps the audience feel the moment more clearly?
