On the week leading up to the the Emmys, DigitalFilm Tree discussed award winners and nominees, the solutions involved in past and present winning shows, as well as shared a trip to the Academy Film Archive. Here is a recap of the eventful week that celebrated the prestigious night.
Monday, September 9:
Shouting out our wonderful post partner PFX Prague who provided visual effects for the Emmy nominated HBO series “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty“. You know we love our Lakers out here in Los Angeles.
Our friends Lukas Keclik, managing partner of PFX, and Javier Platas, VFX Supervisor, were in town for Emmy week and decided to drop by DFT HQ today to connect with the team. (Pictured here with CTO Scott Bradbury, CEO Ramy Katrib, and Sr. Editor Jacob Tillman)

Master Film Scanner Greg Filkins and CEO Ramy Katrib had the tremendous pleasure of visiting the Academy Film Archive recently, which holds one of the most diverse movie collections in the world, to pick up a film project that DigitalFilm Tree will be restoring. Daniel Wagner, Manager of Film Vault and Traffic, gave us a tour for the ages, showing us the new and sprawling archiving infrastructure with hundreds of thousands of films in 16mm and 35mm, and the world‘s greatest stories stored at a cool 50°. This inspired us both to continue DFTs quest to restore our industry’s timeless stories and present them to a new generation. 🎥 🎉

Continuing with #emmysweek with an oldie but goodie!
Scrubs will always be one of our favorite shows we’ve worked on. With DFT’s help, Scrubs became the first major network TV show to edit and post on Final Cut Pro.
DFT broadcast mastered seven full seasons with Scrubs winning the Emmy for outstanding editing in 2007.
Friday August 16:
“It’s always a pleasure to work on Doozer shows, and not just because my hand appears at the end of every episode (https://vimeo.com/1003722050/bc4cc00cf9). The wide breadth of projects and ever expanding variety of themes and content give us endless opportunities for growth.
Our work on Bad Monkey was the catalyst for growth of #dftvfx in British Columbia and gave us the opportunity to build a Vancouver team that has become an integral part of our visual effects department, regardless of project location.
We wanted to thank Stephanie Johnson and Sofia Bernsvall for their passion and dedication seeing this show through to the very end, making sure the show was delivered to the highest quality and always collaborating with us (and ALL the other vendors) for the most efficient ways to get it done!”
— Dylan Chudzynski, Head of VFX:
Welcome to Bad Monkey Week! Bad Monkey premieres on Wednesday, August 14th (Apple TV+).
We were honored to work on this show, so to celebrate the premiere, we’ll be sharing content all week across LinkedIn, Instagram, and Facebook. We’re excited to go behind the scenes a bit and share the services and solutions that went into helping bring this epic production to life!

We want to congratulate Vince Vaughn for receiving his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame today.
So many great roles for this man, from Swingers to Wedding Crashers, and now starring in the latest drama from the creative mind of Bill Lawrence, Bad Monkey, premiering this Wednesday 8/14 on Apple+.
You know we’ll be watching!
Tuesday August 13:

“We cherish our relationship with the legendary Bill Lawrence and all Doozer Productions, which dates back to Scrubs S2, and the ensuing opportunity to work on so many amazing TV shows including Cougar Town, Undateable, Ted Lasso, & Shrinking.
The first time I met Bill was at a Scrubs wrap party, and he thanked everyone by name, which was astounding!
We’re thrilled for Bill and his team as Bad Monkey premieres today on Apple TV+. We’ve had a front row seat as the show has come together and you’re not going to want to miss this one.”

Friday, September 13:
Rounding out our Emmys Week preview (and review), we are revisiting one of our most awarded shows: Ted Lasso.
Ted’s maniacal kindness and sunny outlook on life made him a fixture at the Emmys the past few years. Global audiences responded to the show’s messages.
NOTE: Awards aren’t the end-all. It’s remarkably difficult to bring a show to life. Any show that makes it to air is a success and we applaud the dream and the love of story.
